Debbie Irwin is a tip-top-talent and award-winning, female voiceover actor based in New York City. Debbie has also voiced documentaries for production companies and networks such as PBS for their series Treasures of New York. She has also been the voice for commercials for Pandora, corporate narrations for IBM Watson and, medical narrations for AstraZeneca, Johns Hopkins, and Memorial Sloan Kettering, just to name a few.

Debbie hails from Chicago originally, with some time spent abroad as an ex-pat in Italy and Mexico perfecting her Spanish and Italian language skills. Finally, she arrived in New York City in pursuit of a theatrical acting career and settled into life in the Big Apple. After taking a little break from acting, Debbie worked in public affairs at The Guggenheim and as a stockbroker on Wall Street, ultimately deciding to move on to ‘Sesame Street’ when she started a family and became a full-time mom.

Three kids and many revelations later, Debbie Irwin decided to take up her theatrical skills again, now paired with her vast array of worldly, multicultural and multi-disciplinary expertise, and apply them all to a voiceover career. Her passion for language, connecting deeply with people, and storytelling are all things she combines into her voiceover work. Sessions get a taste of playfulness when Debbie flips from her Russian, British, Irish and stereotypical New York accents at the drop of a hat. Her fun characterizations stem from her improvisation and acting training and can have the booth howling with laughter.
Because of her knowledge of the corporate world, Debbie understands the tone and approach needed for eLearning and explainer videos. Her accumulated expertise in narrating medical voiceovers makes the lingo and complex words drop off the tongue with an ease that makes the information more accessible to the listener. Her acting chops come out in full force when she is portraying an evil queen in a video game or a pioneer woman in an audio tour. Debbie Irwin has done every type of voice over from instructional to documentary, to a cosmetic brand commercial. With each project, she shows her versatility in the ways she can recite the script, she can play the mature and confident woman, to the warm and gentle caregiver, to the upbeat, friendly gal pal. On a Personal Note
Debbie is consistent in her dedication to her craft and continues to hone her acting chops with weekly coaching with Brad Calcaterra at The Studio. She keeps her improvisation skills sharp so she’s ready to play and explore with voices and characters in the recording studio. Debbie was awarded a Best Actress award by the New York Women in Film & Television for her portrayal of Ayn Rand in GITV’s short film I: Ayn Rand.
Debbie’s passion for the voice over industry, and the people she gets the opportunity to work with, extends to the many other varied ways she spends her time. Aside from her love of travel and getting to know different places and cultures, Debbie is an art collector, a flower gardener, and avid theatre-goer. She is extremely proud to be a 30+ year subscriber to the NY Philharmonic. Culture, be it in the arts, food, or lives of people who live around the world, fascinates and fills her with an appreciation for the past, present, and future.
Debbie Irwin is also politically active, her proximity to City Hall in Lower Manhattan makes it even easier for her to be engaged. She was an activist for the Freelance Isn’t Free Act that was passed in New York City in 2017. She and a cohort of voiceover artists have teamed up together to form a new collective called Blue Wave Voice Over. Their mission is to be the diverse voices of progressive and blue campaigns and causes in 2020 in an aim to make the election season look and sound more like America today; one that showcases every generation, gender, race, and language in the United States.
Above all else, Debbie is deeply devoted to her three children, her family, and friends who have been supportive in her many different career paths. She is truly grateful to the coaches and teachers who have encouraged her to step beyond her perceived boundaries, and be all that she could be. And although she feels she is much too young to be a “MomMom,” Debbie is most grateful for her grandchildren whom she adores very much.
